"Cure" of ear infections can be elusive because we stop treatment too soon, or we don't completely eradicate yeasts.
Ear meds (Entederm or similar) can be applied to the affected ear this way:
Please put medicine in the affected ears TWICE a day for the first three to four days. All you need is for the ears to be 'shiny' throughout. That'll be easier on subsequent applications.
So really it's "Glaze" affected ear(s) ....
After the first 3-4 days simply apply ONCE a day same way, for 3 - 4 MORE days. Glazing. Not dumping.
After that just dose twice a week. To keep stuff gone --> Like Tuesday and Saturday?

Virbac makes a decent ear cleaner. We have an ear cleaner from Vet One we've gotten tons of good feedback on. But this one OTC is pretty good too. Try not to put a Qtip in a dog or cat's ear. The key is to flood the ear with the cleaner, massage the base of the ear, and blot out what you can access with a little wad of terry cloth washcloth. Or woven gauze. At least daily while the ears are 'in trouble' or every couple weeks if the ears are just waxy sometimes.
Have you seen these? These can track your pet (or kid) in real time and unless they get the thing off their collar, you can find your pet. Highest rating on Amazon - reliable and again, unlimited range. (It uses the internet) Put one on your pet soon, and cut your chances of losing your pet. | |||
Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link)This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it. |
You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores. |
